Meet Polly
My earliest memories revolve around making art. I knew from an early age that making art was a way for me to make sense of what was going on around me. At 13, I was gifted with painting lessons. From that first Saturday morning lesson throughout middle and high school, I spent my mornings with, Ruth Fendell, a wise, brilliant woman who not only taught me painting techniques, but showed me how art could be a tool for processing emotions, accessing my soul, and trusting my natural intuition. Under her tutelage, I felt challenged, seen and loved and those classes became my refuge from the chaos of my life. Through the practice of making art, I found tools that would ultimately support me to discover and awaken my own voice.
Throughout my life, art is where I have found refuge from overwhelm, trauma, anxiety, depression and fear. Art offers a container for our creative life force to be our ally, healer, and inspiring guide. It’s visual and physical nature has taught me how to release all of my “shoulds” and demands from elsewhere in my life, bring me back to center, and fully express my soul without having to explain myself in words.
I went on to receive a BFA in Interior and Industrial Design and develop a vibrant and exciting career in this field. I received my Master’s in Psychology and Art Therapy and have trained as a Systemic Family Constellation facilitator. Throughout my life’s evolution, I have always held a depth of passion for and dedication to supporting others in connecting with art as a medium for exploring their desires, unearthing their blockages, and connecting to a joyous, beautiful life of their own choosing through the creative process. For this reason, I am thrilled to be offering to you La Luz Circles!
Why La Luz?
La Luz, which simply means “The Light” was chosen because one of my most powerful inner guides over the years is named La Luz. I first felt and heard her wisdom in my darkest hours, and she has always shown me the way to my personal freedom. She guides me to my true north, which is often expressed via painting.
My wish is that within these circles you too will find a way and medium to connect with your own inner guide(s), light, and wisdom and allow yourself the space to make sense and meaning of life’s tumultuous journey.
